A richly textured thermal Henley with a unique vertical rib knit.
The original double-face jacquard replicates vintage military fabric, but swaps synthetic thread for fine 100% cotton yarn. Its dual-layer structure combines an undulating vertical rib knit outer with a velvety random needle-out rib knit inner. This innovative construction yields a thick, fluffy fabric which protects the body from bitter cold and gains character with age.
Reflecting its military origins, the garment sports a woven fabric placket with contrasting cat eye buttons, vintage weft knit rib on the collar and cuffs, a reversed back shoulder panel, and a round overlocked hem. The painstaking styling reproduces the original vintage design down to the tiniest detail.
To recreate the original characteristic design, we dusted off one of our secret weapons: a Union Special 4-needle flat seamer. This near-legendary industrial sewing machine eradicates uneven seams and handles spectacularly long runs. In spite of the technical difficulties, we stuck with cotton thread for stitching.
The arm and torso fit is relaxed and comfortable, with a fine-tuned sleeve angle optimized for freedom of movement. The cut is well-balanced overall and gives a pleasing profile that works equally well as a top layer or an inner
